Builder Background Check
Before you hand over a deposit, find out who you're actually dealing with. A builder background check pulls together the public record on a building company and the people running it, so a polished sales pitch isn't the only thing you're going on.
A background check looks past the brochure
A good website and a confident quote tell you nothing about whether a builder pays their subcontractors, finishes their jobs, or has left a trail of unhappy clients and court claims behind them. Plenty of builders that later collapsed looked perfectly healthy from the outside right up until they didn't.
What we check
We review the builder's company and its directors against public and licensed sources, including director failure history and past involvement in insolvent companies, court judgments across the Supreme, County and Magistrates Courts, tribunal decisions, building authority disciplinary actions, infringement and public warning registers, workplace safety prosecutions, and online reviews and public complaints. Then we set it out in plain English.
Why it matters
Patterns are the thing to watch. One court claim might be a one-off. A director who has been involved in three failed companies, with a string of payment defaults and a recent run of complaints, is telling you something. A background check is how you see the pattern before you sign, not after.
